South Pomfret, Vermont is home to a new 90-seat theatre hosted in the freshly renovated Teago Grange Hall. The building has a an interesting history ranging from being a general store to a former basket factory from the 1800s. Set to open in August alongside the ArtisTree Music Theatre Festival, the Grange Theatre will host musicals, plays, meetings, dances and more.

“The future holds such excitement for the new Grange Theatre,” said Director of Theatre Arts and veteran actor Christopher Flockton. Owned by a non-profit, the ArtisTree Community Arts Center plans to provide year-round classes, workshops, performances, gallery exhibits and events.

ArtisTree was founded during Woodstock. It is currently hosted in a former barn in South Pomfret where it offers art classes, art therapy programs and gallery and performance spaces. The intimate Grange Theatre is an excellent addition to their community offerings. “It’s a very versatile space,” Flockton said. “The floor can be cleared, and it can be restored to a grange hall if we want to make it available for a community meeting or a prom.”

The Grange Theatre will host an open house on Saturday, August 5 from 5:30 – 7:30pm to allow the community a sneak peek at the facility. In the meantime, here’s a nice article from Valley News about the space.
