Detroit Country Day School is a private secular school founded in 1914.  It offers four campuses for students ranging from Pre-K through 12th grade.  It was founded by Alden Shaw as a boy’s school with a strong focus on the joint strength of athletics and academics.  In 1940, it opened the school to girls in grades k-6 and to all students in 1972.

The Seligman Family Performing Arts Center opened in 2000 as a professional, state-of-the-art facility housing digital sound, sighting, and projection equipment.  It allowed for the production of all forms of performing arts, including film and lectures.  In April 2015, a large expansion project on the performing arts center completed.  Among the additions is the new Nicole and Stephen Eisenberg Family Studio Theatre.  This multipurpose performance space houses a beautiful SkyDeck system.  With the high safety and flexibility of the 1779 square-foot tension wire grid system, students will be able to use the space to enhance creative learning and prepare them for production variety in a professional environment.  Additionally, SkyDeck™ will allow easier and safer instruction of the students in theatre tech and lighting.
