New Cultural Center for Miami
The Sandrell Rivers Theatre is set to open November 19th as part of Liberty City’s new Audrey Edmonson Transit Village. The venue will serve as a new cultural center for the Miami area. The full project features a 22,000-square foot community theatre, over 150 affordable renting units for families, retail space, a multi-level parking garage, and a transit hub with four different bus routes operated by the Miami-Dade transit authority.
InterAmerica Stage, Inc. provided an 3,000+ square foot SkyDeck™ for the Sandrell Rivers Theatre, which certainly helps place the venue on the cutting edge of rigging safety. The venue, which was designed by Zyscovich Architects with the help of consultant TSG Design Solutions, Inc. and built by Link Construction, offers a beautiful new community space for Liberty City. We are proud to be part of this amazing project.
The theatre will become a permanent home for two of Florida’s professional acting companies. The Fantasy Theatre Factory (FTF) is a premier touring children’s theatre. The M Ensemble, Florida’s long established African American theatre company, will present an entire season of shows beginning in January with ‘Kings of Harlem.’
“One of the most exciting aspects to all of us involved is that it’s a state of the art, brand new theatre serving Liberty City and the surrounding area with topnotch professional theatre,” FTF director Larry Fields says. “And we think it’s about time.”
